Responsibility towards people

Workplace Safety

For Baldon S.p.A., workplace safety is not merely a regulatory requirement, but a responsibility towards the people who work every day in our workshops and on our clients’ sites. A culture built over more than 60 years of operating in complex industrial environments — steel, chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical — where the margin for error is zero.

An integrated approach aligned with clients' systems

Baldon S.p.A. operates daily within ISO 45001-certified facilities.
This context has led us to structure our safety management system according to principles fully consistent with the standard: formalised procedures, documented risk assessment, systematic event analysis, continuous improvement cycle.
Our teams integrate seamlessly into clients’ HSE organisations, meeting the same traceability, qualification and control requirements demanded in the most demanding industrial environments.

At the foundation of the management system lies the Management HSE Policy, which formalises the company’s commitment and defines principles, objectives and responsibilities in the areas of health, safety and environment. This document, together with certifications and qualification certificates, is made available to clients and interested parties upon request.

Supplier qualification and accreditations

Working with large-scale clients means responding to structured supplier qualification processes. Baldon S.p.A. maintains active accreditations on the main vendor management systems adopted by its clients, systematically managing the upload and update of required documentation: certifications, social security and insurance records, HSE indicators, safety organisational charts, technical and sustainability documentation.
This activity, continuously overseen by the QHSE and administrative functions, ensures full traceability of requirements for each client and rapid onboarding times even for emergency contracts.

Safety Department

A dedicated department, coordinated by the Health, Safety and Environment Manager (HSEM), oversees safety across all its dimensions: from the permanent workplaces at the Cogliate and Ferentino facilities, in accordance with Legislative Decree 81/2008, to mobile construction sites, where each intervention requires a specific risk assessment and evaluation of interference with the client’s operations.

The Safety Department also manages personnel qualifications and training, health surveillance, PPE provision and mandatory and specialist training programmes, ensuring that every operator deployed on site is fit for the role and trained on the specific risks of the intervention.

Coordination with the client: Art. 26 and Title IV

A key feature of Baldon S.p.A.’s operations is that it works constantly within third-party production facilities. For this reason, the Safety Department pays particular attention to interference management and formal liaison with the client’s safety structures:

In contract contexts within the client’s production environment

Pursuant to Art. 26 of Legislative Decree 81/2008, Baldon S.p.A. actively contributes to the drafting and updating of the Unified Document for the Assessment of Interference Risks (DUVRI), in close coordination with the client employer.

On temporary or mobile construction sites subject to Title IV

The Safety Department drafts the Operational Safety Plan (POS) for each contract in line with the Safety and Coordination Plan (PSC), and maintains ongoing liaison with the Safety Coordinator during Execution (CSE) appointed by the client.

This is complemented by the drafting of dedicated operational procedures for high-risk activities — confined spaces, work at height, heavy lifts, chemical risk, hot work — which integrate and detail the requirements set out in the contractual safety documentation.

High-Risk Activities

For operations presenting specific risk profiles, Baldon S.p.A. applies dedicated procedures, drafted by the Safety Department and carried out by trained and qualified personnel.

Confined spaces

Dedicated procedures for access to tanks, reactors and pipelines: emergency plans, continuous atmospheric monitoring, specifically trained and qualified personnel, external supervision and dedicated PPE.

Work at height

Qualified personnel equipped with certified fall protection systems, with prior assessment of workstations and anchor points. The most critical activities may also be supervised via wearable body cameras, enabling monitoring of the operator and the safety procedures applied.

Heavy lifts

Dedicated lift plans for large and heavy components, with verification of equipment, accessories and routes, and coordination of responsible personnel.

Chemical risk

Procedures for operations involving hazardous substances, decontamination of lines and equipment, respiratory protection and residue management.

Hot work

Welding, cutting and grinding in sensitive industrial areas: work permits, fire protection measures, supervision and management of interference with the client’s processes.

Monitoring and Continuous Improvement

The Safety Department conducts scheduled inspections on sites and in workshops, collects and analyses near misses as a learning tool, and investigates every event to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.

Indicators and corrective actions are periodically reviewed by management, in line with the adopted management model.
